Annual Meeting of the 6th Generation of NYA on the occasion of the World Health Day and ENYA 2025

The second annual meeting of the sixth generation of the Network of Young Advisors to the Ombudsman for Children – NYA (Mreža Mladih savjetnika – MMS) was held in Terme Jezerčica on 4th and 5th April 2025.

The topic of this meeting was the right of children to physical health, on the occasion of the World Health Day and this year’s ENYA project entitled Let’s Talk Young, Let’s Talk about Children’s Right to Physical Health. The Office of Ombudsman for Children will host ENYA FORUM 2025, which will be held in Jezerčica in early July.

The main goals of the ENYA 2025 are the protection and promotion of children’s rights to physical health and the exercise of participatory rights in the area of ​​children’s rights to physical health.

With reference to the World Health Day and the ENYA Forum 2025, NYA members discussed who and what contributes to the protection of children’s physical health, the current state of access to health services and what it should look like in ideal conditions.

During the discussion, they touched upon the existing problems in the availability of health services for children, the organization of Physical Education classes and school nutrition, as well as the need for education of children, parents and teachers about the importance of promoting and encouraging a healthy lifestyle for children, especially spending time in the fresh air and engaging in sports activities.

The young advisors also compiled recommendations for the main stakeholders (education and health systems, parents/guardians, etc.) for improving the realization of children’s rights to physical health, which will be presented at this year’s ENYA Forum.

This annual NYA meeting was organized and led by advisors to the Ombudsman for Children: Davorka Osmak-Franjić, Lidija Petrović, Danijela Žagar, Marijana Šego, Branka Reić Kukoč and Ljiljana Breulj Štimac.
